A groundbreaking day at Garces High School. The school began construction of the Salvucci Aquatics Center. The project will include a swimming pool, diving boards and stadium seating.
The pool was originally part of the last phase in Garces' master plan, but it became a priority after safety concerns arose from students practicing at city parks. "Even in tough financial times, when the necessity to protect our students and our families becomes of highest priority our families step forward," said Garces President John Fanucchi.
The project is expected to be completed by December first. School officials say they haven't yet decided whether the pool will be opened to the public.
