An animal rights group has released undercover video which it claims shows chickens being mistreated at a Central California chicken plant.
The group, Mercy for Animals, said chickens at Gemperle Enterprise in Merced County are crammed into small cages and stomped on by workers.
The video is at the heart of a proposed measure that would prohibit chickens from being contained in cages.
The measure is on the state's November ballot.
