The Amgen Tour of California will not likely come to Bakersfield next year. According to city officials and the Bakersfield Californian, local organizers have decided not to pursue a hosting bid.

The paper reports there are several reasons like uncertainties about the logistics of the event, and scandals rocking the cycling world.

Bakersfield hosted the fifth leg of the 2012 Amgen tour in May. The event brought in tens of thousands of dollars to the local economy.

Why was it dumb to have it here rvlady? It brought in a lot of money to the local economy. It also put Bakersfield in the national cycling spotlight for a day. Don't be such a grumpy old man.
