rvlady, you must not know how college hazing works. Even very large, athletic, people willing submit to the hazing because they want to be accepted into a certain crowd or fraternity. Perhaps the young man was coerced to drink as much as he did due to peer pressure and his desire to fit in. And as far as him walking away, most people who get intoxicated don't always use the best judgment.

rvlady, do you not know how frat house hazing sometimes works? Forced drinking is often what new pledges have to endure. So maybe he didn't drink on his own free will. Nothing has been released one way or the other regarding his. Please think before you make such comments.

He must have drank as of his own free will. No one poured it down him. I'm sorry he died & sorry for his family.

My son was a founding member of a SADD chapter at his high school. When he went to college for his freshman year, he had a real eye opening because of the excessive drinking taking place at the Sorority and Frat houses. After one month he worked with the RA's in his dorm to set up a program similar to SADD and they prevented more then 100 students from going into alcohol poisoning syndrome in the first quarter of the year alone. Every campus should look at a program like that, it does save lives.

This report is not surprising at all. What a tragic event for a young man who had so much potential. Hopefully others will learn from this.
