Turn on the water and save our jobs, that has been the Valley's battle cry ever since a federal judge ordered drastic reductions in water pumping from the Sacramento delta early last year.
Critics of that decision warned that tens of thousands of jobs would be lost.
But some economists say, even with the depressing jobless numbers released Thursday, they don't come close to the dire prediction of a year ago, that California farms would wither on the vine.
