Houchin Community Blood Bank is expanding its operations to ensure lifesaving blood is available to Kern County residents when they need it.
On Thursday, 17 News got a sneak peek inside their newest facility. The new blood bank is located in the new Seven Oaks Business Park off Bolthouse Drive just off Buena Vista Road, south of White Lane.
The 42,000 square foot facility will help Houchin better serve the county's growing population.
"It is the ability for emergency disaster relief to house a large amount of products, test a tremendous amount of products we can offer, and be more to this community than we have been. This facility represents the next 60 years," said Greg Gallion, Houchin Blood Bank President and CEO.
The Houchin location on Truxtun will remain open.
