Study shows Bakersfield rent prices increase by 2 percent

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Rent prices are starting to cool down nationally, but Bakersfield saw a slight increase.

According to a new study by Apartment List, Bakersfield ranks 38th among the 100 largest cities in the United States for continued rent increases.

According to the study, the median rental price for a two-bedroom apartment in Bakersfield is $936. That's a 2 percent year-over-year growth.

Nationally, rent growth is down from 3.6 percent in 2015, to 1.5 percent in 2018.

According to the study, the slowdown in national rent growth is partially due to an increasing supply of new rental inventory in many markets.
