Man arrested after allegedly stabbing, chasing victim in South Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A man was arrested on assault and attempted murder charges after allegedly stabbing a man with a knife, then chasing him down to stab him again.
The victim – whose name has not been released – was found around 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Panama Lane and Colony Street, south of the Walmart in South Bakersfield, after police responded to a call of a man chasing someone with a knife, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
Gregory Kinion, 40, was found a few blocks away in the 2200 block of Panama Lane, and booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.
Witnesses told police Kinion and the victim had been arguing when Kinion pulled a knife and stabbed him. The victim then ran away, with Kinion allegedly chasing him down in an attempt to stab him again.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for "serious injuries that are not believed to be life threatening," police said.
Kinion is due in court Tuesday.
