The South Fire burning west of Lake Isabella has grown to 450 acres and is threatening homes.

Fire crews say 49 structures in the community of Valley View, near Bodfish, are in danger but there are no evacuations at this time. The fire started in Bodfish canyon.

Crews are attacking the fire with tankers and helicopters.

"It's very steep terrain right now so we are depending on hand crews and the air resources at this time," said Leland Davis with the Kern County Fire Department.

According to the Kern County Fire Department, there are 525 firefighters on scene and have 25% containment. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
