UPDATE: Bakersfield Police detectives arrested the tenant of a south Bakersfield home where coroner investigators were seen digging and sifting through dirt Wednesday and Thursday.

The work in the back yard of the home in the 200 block of Curnow Road resumed Thursday morning as detectives confirmed they were searching another site in the Silver Creek neighborhood of Southwest Bakersfield of as part of a homicide investigation.

Police planned a news conference for 10 a.m. Thursday.

Neighbors told 17 News they saw police dogs searching the property Wednesday.  Later, workers used shovels to dig two large holes in the yard, transferring the dirt by bucket to a nearby sifter.

Police said they were not sure how large the crime scene is.

Neighbors also said the house was a rental property and the most recent tenants moved in a few months ago. At least one neighbor who did not want to be interviewed on camera said she recently saw someone with a tractor working in the yard.

Public records indicate the home was purchased by Ricardo Godina in 2007.

Neighbors say a series of "No Trespassing" signs were recently installed along the front fence by the people living at the home.

Haha Listen "Paranah" that sign was there before they moved in. How would I know? BECAUSE I LIVED THERE THREE MONTHS AGO!!! They moved in while we moved out. It was a tad strange how they rented it after us so quickly. The Landlord only had the sign up for a couple of days.

No Trespassing signs on the fence. Recent tractor work in the back yard. Sure indications a recent crime of some sort has happened at that house.
