UPDATE 3/18 - The names of the two children who drowned Wednesday morning have been released.
Micah Emmanuel Tucker, 1, and Marcus Nevaeh Tucker, 3, were found in a backyard pool.
The boys were in the care of two young men, ages 22 and 21, whose names have not been released.
The 21 year old said the boys had been in the den when he went to use the bathroom. When he returned, the boys were gone. After searching the house, the man found the boys in the pool and called 911 for rescue instructions.
He was still trying to resuscitate the two boys when help arrived.
The boys were taken to local hospitals where they later died.The children, who were brothers, were 2 and 4 years old. Their names were not immediately released.
Police said the owners of the house were out of town Wednesday. They left the home in the care of their son, who invited his roommates to visit. One of the roommates was the mother of the boys.
Emergency crews were called to 5525 Dustin St. at 11:09 Wednesday morning, according to Chief Garth Milam of the Bakersfield Fire Department. That’s near Panama Lane and Highway 99.
When firefighters arrived, the children had been pulled from the pool, and someone was doing CPR. The children were taken to local hospitals, where they died, according to the fire department.
