Two more suspects are accused of murdering a Bakersfield man in his mobile home last month. This news comes as the third suspect told a judge Monday she is not guilty. Wesley Nunley's family has been praying for justice since the crime. It's been a tough month for the family of 54-year-old victim.
"The kids ask for their Grandpa and want to see him, but it's hard to explain that he is gone," Wesley Nunley's daughter-in-law Rhonda Nunley said.
Rhonda Nunley and her husband James say their father was bound with duct tape and covered with sheets and blankets while three people robbed his home on Terrace Way and then killed him with a baseball bat.
"I guess they wanted his money, and his computers and stuff like that in his house," James Nunley said.
Rhonda Nunley says her brother-in-law saw one of the men drive away after the murder and described the man to police. Weeks later, tragedy struck the family again.
"My brother-in-law, the one who found Wesley murdered not even two weeks later had a heart attack and passed away," she explained.
Milani Larrea is charged with first degree murder but pleaded not guilty Monday in court. Court documents identify the other two suspects as Ronnie Feming and Abel Gaeta, but it's unclear if they have been arrested yet. All three suspects have long rap sheets and charges for past thefts, and Gaeta served time in Wasco State Prison for first degree robbery in 2008.
Rhonda Nunley says police told her the trio planned to her father-in-law but didn't mean to kill him. She says officers also recovered some of Wesley Nunley's stolen belongings from the suspects. The Nunley's find that somewhat reassuring and now hopes justice will be served.
