Ten people are without a place to live after a fire destroyed their east Bakersfield home.

The blaze began yesterday afternoon on Royal Way. When firefighters arrived, they say the fire was quickly spreading from the back of the home. The home suffered major damage and two cars parked underneath a carport also burned.

Damage is estimated at 200 thousand dollars but no one was injured.

The Red Cross is helping the family.
