I think its horrible that something like this had to happen in order for the school and the school district to acknowledge that this is a problem. My problem is that all of us are teased/bullied at some point in our lives and we get over it. Why didn't the parents know what was going on? I'm sure teachers saw or heard what was going on and still didn't say anything. They didn't contact the parents to inform that about what was going on at school with the other children. While I am all for the 2nd amendment, I think that gun safety is very important. The owners of these weapons should be fined for not keeping their weapons locked away safely and allowing minors access.

Dr,I was making a point that there is nothing the cops can do for a threat, even when shots are fired they won't do anything. Yes you are right, Ashe & south halfmoon is mini-compton...... where the Bakersfield Putz dept doesn't do a thing, never have never will, even when supplied with names & addresses. Been there done that.

jmabbott, it sounds like after the police officer heard what was going on with your son, he/she determined no crime had been committed. What do you want them to do, make stuff up to make you happy? And how do you know the shoots you heard near your complex had anything to do with your son? The entire area around your complex isn't that good anyway. Probably just some gang bangers shooting at each other.

Paranah makes a good point. Maybe if the school would have helped the kidoutwith the bully problem it would not have happened. I do think the shooter went about getting even the wrong way,mabe if he had some friends that would have is back so to speak it wouldn't have happened either. As for the hit list, from what the Bakersfield Putz dept has told me makng death threats isn't illegal & they can't do anything about them. My sonhad very explict death threats made to him on FB including what type of firearm would be used & nothing was done. The cops din't even bother to check on his well being less than 8 hours after we tried to file the report when shots were fired less than 200 feet from our complex, we found the shell casings the next morning after the cops cruised thru the alley but never stopped.

Now the school will deal with bullies? From other reports Oliver was bullied by a few othet students with no action by the school so Oliver took maters into his own hands. If the school had responded sooner maybe the shooting would never have happened.

They will bring in bullying experts? OMG! Parents, protect your kids because the schools can't.
