To RVLADY, I'm a Parole Agent in this county. Almost every parolee I ever had on my caseloads (and I've had thousands of them) is on multiple forms of welfare. The handful who aren't make good money working in the oilfields. The oil companies are more than willing to hire parolees, and I've known a number of parolees that make 70K or more in that industry. The problem is getting them to work. Most of them have no desire to engage in honest labor.

The Mojave Desert would be a great place to set up a tent jail like the one in Arizona. California and Kern County should utilize this space. Might even cut down on the Meth cooking! If anyone on this planet thinks that criminals commit violent crimes because they can't find a job they are truely out of touch. Criminals are criminals and commit more crimes when the conseqeunces of those crimes diminish. It's a criminals paradise in California now so expect more of this trend.
