South Bakersfield shooting leaves woman hospitalized

BAKERSFIELD, CA - Police are investigating a shooting in south Bakersfield that left a woman hospitalized. Officers say the shooting happened around 7:30 Monday night on Chester W. Nimitz Street near South H and Panama Lane.

They say a man and a 21-year-old woman had an argument and the woman was shot once. As of Tuesday morning, police would not say if the man arguing with her is the person who shot her.

She was taken to Kern Medical Center and is expected to be okay. Her name has not been released.

Police say they have not made any arrests and are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
