A warning from local law enforcement - if you drink and drive this Saint Patrick's Day, they'll catch you.

Dozens of law enforcement officers spent the evening trying to catch drunk drivers.

They set up a checkpoint at a busy intersection in Bakersfield looking for people who had too much to drink.

"Tonight is St. Patrick's Day and with St. Patrick's Day comes a lot of consumption of alcohol," said Sgt. Melvin Johnson.  "We're out here tonight with another DUI checkpoint to attempt to deter this type of behavior.  We also have officers out in the field conducting DUI saturation patrols looking for those drivers who are driving and drinking."

As of news time tonight, three people had been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

If you spot an impaired driver, you're urged to call 911.

3 arrested. How many vehicles were impounded? The state government makes lots of money from impounding vehicles at DUI checkpoints.
