The following is a news release from California City Police Department Chief Eric Hurtado:
The California City Police Department interviewed 3 students from California City High School after school officials heard of alleged sexual misconduct involving one of their teachers. The students, ranging in age from 14 – 17 years of age, told police that one of their teachers, Amber Failla, had several sexual encounters with the male students.
The students told police that Failla was "sexting” nude photographs of herself to them. The students told police investigators that Failla would text the students at different times to meet in her classroom where she would engage in sexual activity with each of the students when there was no class in session in her classroom. Police seized several cell phones at Failla’s Tehachapi home under a search warrant.
The students told police that they believe there are more than 3 students engaging in sexual activity with Failla but have yet to be identified.
The police department is working closely with school officials who are fully cooperating during this ongoing investigation.
