A crash just south of Bakersfield killed a pickup truck driver.
The CHP says a big rig and the pickup collided just before 9:30 Thursday night on Old River Road near Interstate Five. The driver of the semi says the pickup crossed into his lane and he began honking his horn but the pickup hit the semi's trailer and veered off the road and crashed.
The driver of the pickup died at the scene. He's been identified as 53-year-old Christopher Gilles from Kingsburg. The driver of the semi suffered minor injuries.
