Detectives still need your help in the case about the shooting of a man found on a doorstep Wednesday. Detectives say the residents on Plaza Street didn't tell them the whole truth. They said the residents did know Simon Bautista Jr., though they told detectives they didn't.

Sheriff's officials say there's more to the story of 27-year-old Simon Bautista that they were told. Deputies say they found a suspect Wednesday night in the shooting of Bautista.  His name is Catarino Ayala.

Detectives say Ayala said he had been threatened by Bautista in the past, so when Bautista showed up at his door forcing his way in early Wednesday morning, Ayala shot him once in the upper body. "But we're confident that Mr. Bautista was responsible for the carjacking and that Mr. Ayala was responsible for shooting Mr. Bautista later that morning at the home on Plaza Street," says Ray Pruitt, public information officer, kern county sheriff's department.

Detectives say they also discovered that Bautista was a suspect in a carjacking that took place early Wednesday morning near Plaza Street where Bautista died.

If you have any information call the sheriff's department at 861-3110 or Secret Witness 322-4040.

BS. If he "carjacked" these people, why in the heck go back the next day alone and unarmed???? Also if he was defending himself or his family, why run away like your the one who has something to hide??? Just doesn't make sense....Because I know, If I were in the same position I would not hesitate to protect myself or my family and first, why did they not call the police as soon as he showed up if they had already had dealings with him and knew who he was? I don't know about any of ya'll but I would have to say any person who would willingly go to someones house that you have just carjacked, alone, unarmed, up against 3 other people and a shotgun would have to have some pretty big ba*ls or several screws loose to even attempt something like that........

Cristina you sure can talk, didn't you read the story or do you need pictures? First he jacked a car and then he tried to force his way in, sure he knocked but they did not invite this scum in he tried to force his way in when they would not let him come in so he got shot, case closed for good, tax payers saved the money to support him in prison, works for me.

So Cristina were you involed in his carjacking to? Looks to me I read he tried to force is way into the home where he has had problems with the person before. Let somebody steel your vehicle or force their way in your home and then see how you would view them then. Or will you just let them take/do whatever and just say it's helping him and his family?

He was forcing his way in, but it isn't unheard of that someone will knock or ring a doorbell then when denied entry try to force themselves in.

Sounds like the both of you dont know wtf your talking and no matter what happened he didn't deserve to be killed. If you open your ears you will HEAR them say he KNOCKED on the door. I highly doubt that he would have knocked on the door to let them know was breaking in.smh And you should have ALOT more respect for the family off this man! Because no matter what you think, yes this man does have a family...He was not only a son, but a brother, uncle, cousin and much more to alot of people....May you now rest peacefully Simon Bautista.......
