With their heads down in prayer and candles in hand, one Southeast Bakersfield community stood together in memory of 2-year-old Ka-mya Robinson. Now her mother is pleading with the community to help her find the person who shot and killed the toddler outside her home.

"If you know somebody please come forward," mother Katie Wimbley said. "If you can help me feel better knowing somebody is in custody please come forward."

Bakersfield police continue to search for several men they say got into a fight Monday night in front of the home. While she and twin sister were playing outside, a stray bullet from the fight hit Kamaya in the chest. Her mother says she got the news while she was at school.

"I just didn't think it would be a shot wound or a drive by for my child," Wimbley said. "I never thought this would happen to me, but to know she is in a better place and she is happy that is all that matters to me."

A memorial outside the home swells with flowers, teddy bears and balloons. A show of support from the community.

"We just pray that the community come together and take a stand and stop the violence," Iraina Holliday with Code 10 Project said. The organization helps families who are victims of violence.

Meantime detectives are seeking information from a witness who's been identified as Temeka.

"Why a baby?" Holliday questioned. "It was daylight when it happened didn't you see the babies out there playing? Why did you shoot?"

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by the Kern Secret Witness Program for information leading to an arrest and charges filed.

If you have information on the shooting, or a witness named Temeka, call the Secret Witness Hotline at 661-322-4040.

Robinson's family has also set up a memorial fun in the girl's name to help with funeral costs. You can donate at any Bank of America branch.

My thoughts and prayers go out to this family. Another child gone before her life barly had a chance to start. But, most people, who know, will never come forward out of fear of retaliation, which is pathetic.
