A Bakersfield man accused of shooting and killing his brother over the weekend says he's innocent. Darren Lewis, 24, spoke to 17 News Sunday night from the downtown jail.

Lewis is accused of shooting and killing his brother, 36-year-old Leo Johnson. Police say it happened during a family get-together Friday night on Lotus Lane in southeast Bakersfield. Lewis admits he got into an argument with his brother, but says he wasn't the one who pulled the trigger — but he wouldn't tell us who did.

"I don't really care to address that because no matter who did it, it will hurt me, no matter who did it," said Lewis.

Lewis and Johnson's grandmother said a two-year argument over a car led up to the fatal shooting.

"I went in to take a bath and I heard four shots and, when I stepped out on the porch, my daughter told me to call 911," said Iva Harris, grandmother of the victim and suspect. "I asked what were the shots for and she said Leo had been shot and Darren was standing there and he had a gun in his hand."

Lewis faces several charges, including first degree murder. He's scheduled to make his first court appearance Tuesday.

So, he was arguing with the victim outside, shots rang-out, granny came outside and saw him standing over his dead brother holding a handgun. But, he didn't do it. I bet O.J. would testify on his behalf...

Poor guy. A victim of circumstances. Sounds like he ate too many psylocibe mushrooms. He's just a normal guy with "brother's keeper" issues. The shooter was his invisable friend, and perhaps, an Oakland Raider fan.

Wow, all kinds of innocent people are getting locked up for crimes they didn't commit. [sarcasm/off]
