Lake Isabella toddler pronounced dead, mother and live-in boyfriend arrested

The Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a Lake Isabella toddler as a homicide. Deputies arrested the mother and her live-in boyfriend.

Around 2:30 Saturday morning, deputies were called to the 2500 block of Erskine Creek Road in Lake Isabella for a child not breathing.

The 14-month-old girl was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The toddler's mother, 22-year-old Amanda Marie Reese, was arrested for felony child abuse. Reese's boyfriend, 24-year-old Jared Ramirez, was arrested for murder and child abuse resulting in the death of a child.

Both Reese and Ramirez were booked into the downtown jail. Ramirez is being held without bail. As for Reese, her bail amount is set at $20,000.
