Kern County stolen silver raid largest on record

The Sheriff's Department is calling it the largest precious metals raid that it knows of. Authorities said they seized about $14,000 worth of stolen silver from an east Bakersfield jewelry shop. But the jewelry store owner said he had no idea he was doing anything wrong.

Of course he did not know it was stolen. That's why he didn't keep proper records and melted the jewelry down asap, not to mention that the customers lined up before the business opened. The article claims he was taking in 20K a day. I really hope he does a decent enough amount of time in jail and a large fine, enough to ensure that he did not make a profit for the year he was in business. And I am sure we are going to hear what a good guy he was!!! LOL. Hang him or deport him if he does not come with papers.

Igorance is no excuse. This is past ignorance and is turning a blind eye to an obvius situation for a profit.Criminal charges and jail time are in order.

Isn't this the same place that the lady who was robbed last year was told she'd have to buy back her own stolen jewerly? WTH is going on in this town?

Same old line, like I have the same people that bring in thousands of dollars of gold and silver every week but I had no ideal it was all stolen, BS lock up the jewelry shop owner for fencing these robberies!

whats even sadder had the cops caught the crooks before they had the stolen property melted down they would have just charged them with petty theft and kicked them right back out on the street thats why i have a gun anybody robs my house better hope what you grab is worth your life.......

Of course the owner knew the items were stolen. That's what those people do.
