A woman may face hit and run charges after officers say she hit a sheriff deputy's patrol car.

The accident happened around 7:00 p.m. Monday night at the intersection of Rosedale Highway and Allen Road. The CHP says the deputy was responding to an emergency call.

Officers say he had his lights and siren on and was making a left turn when the woman failed to yield and struck the deputy.

"The driver then pulled over into the Fastrip parking lot and then fled the scene and switched drivers," said CHP Officer Brad Everett. "Later, the new driver came back. We have identified the original driver and that driver will be looking at hit and run."

Neither the deputy nor the woman were hurt.  Investigators say they aren't sure why the woman tried to get her husband to take the blame.
