GET takes takexpayers money in the name of providing transpotation to those in need and does not provide this service at all. It is the taxpayers who should be upset because GET is fleecing us. GET is in a great position to take our money, say they are providing a service and then shortchange those they serve. GET does not care one bit about the people they serve or their complaints. GET has a standard reponse to all email/phone complaints. They repeat and copy/paste to all complaints in the same manner. They state that the change is to serve more people in the most effective manner. The issue is that their new routes do not acheive their goal at all. Their new routes are unbalanced and leave a great many people behind with packed buses, stops that are overcrowded and then an empty bus right behind. My 89 yr. old grandpa said he never walked so much around Bakersfield until GET changed their routes. GET is taking my money and not providing what they say they will.

The Bakersfield Homeless Center has problems alright. And that’s LOUIS GILL. He needs to step down and make room for a more responsible person to head the Center. Are you listening Danny Gilmore or whoever is his boss? The Bakersfield Homeless Center needs another director! Gill cites that a witness said “a passing vehicle struck two parked cars and a woman pulling out of the driveway after she made a donation”. But having a bus double parked there would have been much safer? It sounds to me like the woman pulling out of the driveway caused the mishap. And that’s not GET’s fault! Where was Gill when that happened? Out canvassing for donations from the Private and Public section? If that was what he was doing, then he was doing what has to be done. GET has their budget constraints. Bakersfield Homeless Center has theirs. Having a bus stop at their front step is, at this time, a luxury service that is not within GET’s budget. So, Louis Gill or his replacement has to canvass the private and public sector to come up with the difference.

When my husband was in Korea I didn't have a car. I walked a good 8 blocks with a baby in a stroller to buy groc. Then 8 blocks back. My allotment was $107.@ month. You know what I survived.Back then there was no welfare & no food stamps. So really don't feel sorry for all of them .

how do homeless and mentally disabled people complain? saying they don't have many complaints is an unfair and biased comment on GETs part. listen to the professionals that help these people to improve their lives. these people have a right to enjoy life as much or more than the other jackazz people making snide remarks on here. shame on them and SHAME ON GET.

So these various organizations want GET to lose money in order to serve their "clients?" If someone is so mentally challenged that they cannot safely cross a busy intersection, maybe they shouldn't be walking around by themselves in the first place. And since when should GET lose money to pick up and haul a bunch of homeless people around town to get more free government benefits? Do I sound harsh? Sorry, but I'm sick of all these liberal people thinking they are owed something.

The large number doesn't include anyone East of Oswell or in the general area East of Mt Vernon. A lot of those people have limited means of transportation and further to walk to get where they need. Those people are not being heard from because they're still walking to get where they need to go just to complain.
