This year's Relay For Life will have a kitchen after all after last minute approval from the Kern County Board of Supervisors.
It was a unanimous vote Tuesday morning to let the Kern County Fire Department use their mobile kitchen to feed the thousands that will attend this year's Bakersfield Relay.
There was concern over whether that would be allowed after audits earlier this year of dozens of county departments raised concerns of misuse of taxpayer dollars. The Kern County Fire Department was on that list showing employees borrowing equipment for personal use and hundred of items still missing.
Kern County Supervisor Karen Goh says because of that, the Fire Marshall was being extra cautious about loaning the kitchen out.
