Jonathon Lopez was a THUG! Now, thankfully, he is a DEAD THUG! He can no longer be a menace to our community. His friends and family should be ashamed of themselves, for if he was so 'loved' then you would have steered him on the path to being a productive member of society. Thank you, Bakersfield Police Department, for all of your hard work and keeping Bakersfield safe!!! Oh, and by the way, I am a law abiding citizen and I will comment as much as I please. The truth always hurts!

First of all, I would like to say thank you to all those who are paying your respects. Now for the rest of the people leaving comments like, "he deserved it, he a thug, thank you bpd, etc...." Go to hell with all that and please don't say anything about this case because you don't have any right to! No one knew him but his FAMILY and frinds! He did not deserve to die like that! If you were not there and don't know him, please save your comments and get a life. Don't give your opinion if all you have to say is negative. Jonathan Lopez was a son, brother, uncle, cousin, grand kid, and a loved human being...

I support the officer 100%. Lopez a crimiinal and his rap sheet proved it. He will no longer bring misery to law abiding citizens. His family members, of course, portray him as a choir boy. No doubt the family will sue. Hope the jury gives the family nothing. Criminals have too many rights in California.

What about the officer he has priors. Sounds to me like a trigger happy police officer. Why dont we wait for all the facts to come out before we start making stupid comments. Johnathen might have had priors to but that doesnt give the officer the right to shoot him after he surrendered. The officer had already shot him in the leg tell me how far is johnathen gonna get with a wounded leg.

cochise, if the idiot shot at the officer, tossed the gun, and still tried to run away, he's a fleeing, dangerous felon. He got what he deserved, per the law.

Thank You Officer Cason and the rest of the BPD. Another thug is off of our streets and I am delighted! It is so silly for KGET to interview family members of dead thug. They are responsible for his actions and for being a drain on our society. Lopez family = FAILURES!!!

you people are stupid if they found the gun somewhere else??? then that clearly states that he had no gun when he was murdered. listen he was shouting i have no gun and was giving up but was still shot that is murder. past record or not he still did not deserve to get killed

Mariogon2000 and bchris703, well said both of you. As to the Lopez Family, it sounds like you just made a threat to a police officer. Hmmmm
