A local bail bondsman who says he's dying of cancer was released from jail on bail, Lerdo jail officials said.
Joaquin Gracilazo Cruz, 65, is accused of cheating clients out of their property and holding clients hostage.
He's been jailed since his arrest.  His attorney, Arturo Revelo, says Cruz is not getting the chemotherapy treatment that he needs. He called Cruz's wait for bail a death sentence.
Cruz's family gathered money for his bail, but the judge required them to prove the money was not the product of crime.
On Wednesday morning, the judge lowered bail to $75,000 and removed that requirement.
A letter to the judge from Dr. Ravi Patel of the Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center says Cruz has six months or less to live.
Cruz, his wife and four others are charged with 33 felonies following a two-year investigation into accusations that they tricked and coerced clients into giving up property that had been put up for bail.
The wife, Eduvina "Diane" Chacon, and Isaac Trevino are accused of fraudulently getting title to clients' vehicles and houses and other property to sell or for their personal use. Losses from this totaled at least $298,000, according to a press release from the California Department of Insurance.

Thank you Jewlz for giving me hope in humans. You other idiots dont have a clue. An accusation is only that. That is why we have courts in this country. So we can dispute accusations. The idiots who posted before jewlz feel someone is guilty just for being accused. And to think its idiots like this who become jurors. There has been no preferential treatment whatsoever. He posted his bail. He needs his treatment to gain the strength to defend himself. What is the problem with that. Get a clue people. When he is found not guilty, maybe these idiots will say to themselves. Wow Im glad he got his turn in court. I doubt it though. They dont seem smart enough to admit jumping to judgement.

Last time I checked, people were not sentanced to death for fraud. He hasn't been convicted yet, and we don't even know the whole story. They are taking the word of other criminals, some who were convicted of crimes. Should all criminals deserve to die? What happened to second chances, changing for the better? He will never be able to have this chance. You all should be ashamed for wishing death upon anyone. Why not let the justice system do it's job. We have rights in our country, and you all would like to take them away.

His bail should be the $234,000. he stole from his clients that trusted him. He has ruined their lives by his deeds. I personally feel he should die behind bars with his family, He is a robber and a thief. No mercy, But bleeding hearts don't sheak justice.

His release is a slap in the face to the people he defrauded, threatened, and denied their property. If it were someone like you or me, being ill wouldn't be an excuse for release from jail..People die in jail every day, why should he get exceptional consideration?????

Cruz should spend the rest of his days in jail. His illness is no excuse for him to be released from jail. The crimes and pain he has cuased to the these families is unbelievable and he should and deserves to die in prison.

If there were others invloved why is he the only one that is being held? Things like this are only fair if each person is held responsible.
