Nearly 10,000 more Swine Flu shots have arrived in Kern, and they've been distributed to doctors' offices.

Until more vaccine arrives, the doctors are supposed to limit distribution to the priority groups who are elgivle to recieve it at the public health clinics.

Doctors can charge to adminster the shots. Public health clinics are free, but thousands of people have waited hours in line at the clinics.

The health department is prohibited by the state from naming the doctors who got the medicine. You have to call your doctor to see if he or she has the vaccine.

The priority groups are:

• Children 6 months to 24 years;
• Pregnant Women;
• Caregivers of children 6 months of age and younger;
• Persons with Underlying Health Conditions 24 years to 64 years; and
• Healthcare Workers.

The public is reminded to check Kern County Public Health’s web site http://www.co.kern.ca.us/health/ for the most current vaccine availability information or call 1-877-81VIRUS for updates on clinics.
