I do not know this partiular area of Delano but the bottom line should always be, when children have to travel to schools via a specific route then 1- speed limit should be no more than 25 to 30 mph, 2- a stop sign should be installed, and 3-crossing guards should be present. If there is no money for the guards then how about the PTO's of the schools setting up a parents volunteer force and a schedule for when parents will act as guards. It is more then obvious that if we don't do it no one will these days. I have family living in San Antonio, Tx and in every single school zone the speed limit is 25mph, there are speed bumps prior to each crosswalk, there are stop signs at each crosswalk, there are crossing guards, all school zones are mandated phone free (including hands free devices). Seems to me this is a prime example of what areas value the lives of their children.
