I was stationed at Lejeune twice. 2/74 to 9/74, and 6/75 to 10/77. After leaving the service I went to work as a Deputy Sheriff. I enlited in the Illinois Air National Guard in 1982, serving to 6/1974. My health started to go south in the mid eighty's. I have Cronic Fatigue, Kidney stones of which I constantly produce, High Blood Pressure, A weak Bone density, and various mental issues. I lost friends on KoTang island in 1975. The gulf War, Desert Shield/Storm, cost me everything. I lost my civilian job, I lost my reserve position, I had recently been promoted to TSGT, (E-6). On top of that I am constantly focused on the friends killen back in Cambodia. I am lucky to get one to two hours of sleep a night and for that I need to have oxygen. I also have slleep apnea and obstructed Airway syndrome. I take so much medication, I truly believe it all stems from Lejeune. I'm now on disability for errosive arthritis of my hands, feet, back, etc.etc. I had applied for a non service connected disability and was denied. The reason was the Camp Lejeune Water study. What that has to do with a non service connected pension, I just don't no. Now I get letters from the V.A. stateing they are still working on a Camp Lejeune compensation package. Problem with that is no one can tell me what exactly that paticular program is. It makes no sense in going to my elected reps. I've tried and all I got was more grief. The Corps will take care of it's own. Only if it don't cost any money or the like. I don't no how much more time I've left on this life but I hope it ends before I become a vegetable. I wish all well. God help those of us who were dumb enough to volunteer going into the military.

This sounds like the drinking water under the old sunland refinery that the employee were told was safe to drink!

I'm curious to know what the water was contaminated WITH? It is simply HORRIBLE that these people were not notified of the contamination.
