Construction on Stockdale Highway should be back in full swing this week, with an end in sight.
Drivers who shop in the area say the time can't come soon enough.
Most drivers and business owners say it's a headache they've been dealing with since last fall.
"It just affects clientele as far as coming in on time," said Eric Aguilar, David Henry Salon Manager.
"Kind of gets frustrating for the people that work here because they get behind as well and then it's like a domino effect all the way down," added Aguilar.
Customers who come into the David Henry salon, are sometimes 45 minutes late because of traffic.
"It's been pretty hectic, like slow. It slows us down in the morning," said Desiree Romero, who works in the Stockdale Shopping Center.
The owner of advanced cigarette says his business has been down 10 percent to 15 percent, but he's not sure whether that's due to construction or something else.
Construction started last fall and stretches from just east of Real Road to west of Ashe Road.
The public works department says in part, you can blame the delays on mother nature.
"We had so many days of paving and then every time you read the paper it called for a rain day almost every other day," said Raul Rojas, Bakersfield Public Works Department.
"We should be back on track now this week," added Rojas.
The project is expected to be completed late this Spring.
