If you all (with the exception of jmabott888) are so unhappy with the way the BPD is doing THEIR job, maybe you should become police officers and do the job better. Let's see how long you last!! And remeber, these officers have people they have to answer to. They dont get to pick & choose what calls they make to or get dispatched to. So if they dont make it to your little crime to make a report, dont blame them. They might be stuck on a tragedy involving the rape of a child or a drug bust & getting those people off the street so they dont come break in to your house or cars when they are high!! If you dont like the way the BPD or our city is ran for that matter, MOVE!!!! These men & women put their lives on the line every day & night & to get absolutely no respect from the citizens they live to protect, is RIDICULOUS!!!! I wouldn't want to take the time to do your little report either knowing that people don't respect me or my life. Like I said before, either apply for the job & do it better or leave this town!!

Maybe the BPD shouldn't hang out in parks or learn how to slow down and use turning indicators.

So SATC3456, did you do what the officer suspected?

I was torn on this topic, until I saw what oldfart wrote and now I have to agree with him. It reminded me of the one time my husband and I had to call the police. Someone broke into his truck and they came out later in the day. It was fine that they came out when they did, but what really upset me was when the officer accused me and my husband of breaking into our own car and stealing the stereo. After that, I never trusted a police officer to take their job seriously.

Hey dr maybe you should know what you're talking about. As jmabbott stated shots fired in an apartment complex! There were over 10 calls made from different residence in that complex and a cop could have walked from the police department to the southwest faster!

No, we reported them over the phone, funny how throwing rocks at a moving vehicle is piddly" when it's a felony to do so. For the shots fired, we reported death threats & within hours we have shots fired & all the cops do is cruise thru, thos boneheads can't even see the shell casings in the alley around their coffee cups & donuts, we found them. Why would the cops need new vehicles? to go get more donuts & coffee? If it was CHP or KCSO getting the raise I'd be all for it, at least they do their jobs. BTW the city has its own shop, the mechanics in town will never see em, as for the alesmen, sorry but they are courtesy deliveries, no commision.

jmabbott888, you sure are dramatic. Did you report these piddly crimes on the BPD crime reporting website? And shots "heard" within 100 yards of an apartment complex? Wow, that is gonna result in a huge police response, unless more info is provided. You should be thankful the officers got a meager little raise. Maybe now they can afford to buy a new car or truck, which benefits the salesmen and mechanics who work for the local dealers.

THe PD may be stretched thin BUT when they don't do their job they don't deserve a raise!!! Give them names, addresses & class scedules for thieves, they do nothing. Get rocks thown at your moving vehicle & identify they ones doing it, nothing gets done. Have death threats made then shots fred withing 100 yards of your residence, the cops do't even get out of their cars, he list goes on. These guys don't deserve a raise.

Oldfart--if you want to blame somebody for the crime rate going up (and nice drama, but it's not 500%), then blame Governor Brown, who through Prison Re-alignment has kicked thousands of inmates out of prisons and jails, free to roam our streets and do their dirty work. The police are stretched thin. They're doing what they can, and sometimes that means it takes awhile to get to your report, because they're busy jumping over fences, trying to catch burglars and robbers. Six years in negotiations is a travesty against those officers and their families. I hope Tandy slept well all those nights.
