Real simple if gays do not wish to be made fun of do not bring it around other people, normal people and yes I said normal, people do not really care to have this crap going on around them, if I'm going to have someone looking me up and down it better be of the female sex.

Wake up Bakersfield. We live in a city of intolerance! The school, the family, the news can't even say the word Gay. They use words like different. This kid was gay! Not a choice at 13 but has always been that way. Once you teach your children and yourselves that Gay is not a choice and not an ugly blemish then these kind of things won't happen. And for you bible people (which is a choice to believe) you don't seem to teach your kids that gluttony is bad. If you did then 80 percent of you would be stoned to death. You like to edit those biblical parts to your liking. This is truly a sad day. This is the communities fault. The schools fault. The parents fault. All of you. It is YOUR fault!

The principal could barely get the word out of her mouth. He was GAY. GAY. Do you get it? Your students had no problem using all those other words, and you can't even say it without choking?? Your inability to speak out contributed to the lethal school environment.

I'm not saying everything should be tolerated. I don't believe wrong doing should go unpunished. I'm simply saying that children should be taught not to hate or inflict injury to others simply because of their differences. You may not like what others stand for, but that doesn't give you the right to hurt others. Bullying is one of many things that should not be tolerated and should be punished.

We alll have a right to teach our children as we see fit. While I agree that all children should be taught putting their hands on anyone is wrong, I will not be forced into teaching my child that everything should be "tolerated". My kids are aware of right and wrong. They know that Biblically homosexuality is wrong. However, they have been taught to see past someones choices. I have always taught my kids "you don't hate the person but you can dislike the actions of said person." They have always been taught that they are to be respectful to everybody no matter what. I don't tolerate disrespect for others. But I also don't agree that everything should be tolerated. If it came out that the bullies had mental defects should we just tolerate them because it's not their fault? I don't think so. The bullies should be punished. My son has a condition and is not allowed to use it as an excuse. Your choices + your actions = your punishment and/or celebration (depending on which choice you make). If there is truth to the fact that the fight happened outside of school, it is not the fault of the school. The school shoud not be sued. It is sad for the family and I wish them the best in such a difficult time. This child should not be where he is and may God have mercy on this child!
