No bomb was found, but schools in the Lake Isabella area were delayed for several hours Thursday morning after a threat was received.

A full ''safe school'' protocol was initiated at Kern Valley High School and Woodrow Wallace Elementary and Middle schools, according to Sherry Costa, director of special services for the Kernville Union School District.

All three schools are adjacent to each other on Erskine Creek Road in the community of Lake Isabella, about 30 miles northeast of downtown Bakersfield.

It all started with an anonymous phone call to the middle school, according to Sheriff's Senior Deputy Michael Whorf. That led to an evacuation and search of the schools.

While that was happening, teachers met parents and students arriving at the three campuses and directed them to nearby Tank Park and to a shopping center on Lake Isabella Boulevard.

As of 9 a.m., all three schools were returning to normal.

"Kern Valley High is operating according to its regular schedule today, said district spokesman John Teves.
