How much is suing the state going to cost the city? Will the litigation be handled by the City Attorney's Office, in which case they will likely lose. Or are they going to retain a large firm to represent the city, in which case the city will be paying 300 to 500 dollars per hour for someone to go argue with the state. Sounds like a lose-lose sort of situation.

Sounds like Bakersfield, they may not have to worry much longer, from what I have heard the train might stop at the north end of town at the airport and skid down town all together, their lost. Or they just might put the terminal in Shafter and forget about Bakersfield completely! It's call biting the hands that feed you and it seem Bakersfield is getting good at that!

We are all pretty much sick and tired of government not being able to engage in negotiation. Bakersfield has been blessed to be the hub of the new bullet train and the jobs and business it will bring is a fantastic opportunity. Of course, there are going to be problems and these require not an obstinant bureauocracy, but an engaged partner to make the project cost effective and successful. Suing is the last thing an inept partner can do and it is a waste of funds already in short supply. The points the city have made have been heard. Now, please wait for the answers and ask what the city can do to make this the best public transit system the world has ever known.
