The death of a Bakersfield baby is being called suspicious and an autopsy will be done this week to determine how the boy died.

Sheriff's investigators say the parents of 16-month-old Neven Thompson called 911 from a home on Webster Street Wednesday but before help arrived, they drove the boy to Kern Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The hospital identified the toddler's death as suspicious and contacted the Sheriff's department.
