A one-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car in east Bakersfield.

Bakersfield Police say Isabella Alvarado was struck by an SUV, driven by her mother Amanda.

The accident happened in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Monterey Street Tuesday afternoon.

Officers say it does not appear that impaired driving was a factor in the accident. The investigation is continuing.

This is a frustrating story to read about. More parents are too involved with themselves instead of being attentive to their own kids. This was already mentioned, but how can any caregiver leave a child unattended in a parking lot? People in charge of children are too interested in their cell phones and various partners. There should be some kind of charges brought upon the person(s) who were negligent.

Can i ask y the child was unattented behind a SUV that was running? Here I can answer my own question....BECAUSE NO ONE WAS PAYING ATTENTION!!!! Has NO ONE LEARNED FROM ALL THE CHILDREN DYING THESE DAYS TO PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THEM. They move quick but as a GOOD parent you have to be quicker....

This is a tragic accident running over and killing your own child. But putting a small change in the story and a neighbor at the apparment complex ran over the child instead, I'd bet the parents would be contacting an attorney.
