Must not have been potheads. They don't rape women, rob banks or molest babies.

Jim C, the word draconian comes to mind. The laws are just that. I do not believe for a second that anybody that does not already partake, will suddenly decide to take up pot-smoking just because it becomes legal and cheap. It is not a "gateway' drug either. Just because you decide to get high one day does not mean you will be slamming heroin next week

ahaarf t. Actually cannanbis and THC is listed under the Schedule I category of the fda, "no medicinal value" in the same group as LSD, heroin, that stuff. I am 58 years old. and I remember in school back in the 50's when the lied so bad it was ludicrous. They used to tell us the if you take a single toke, you are hooked for life and you will have babies with 3 heads and crap like that. It was so far off the rails even us little kids knew they were just scare tactics, and the drug of choice of the powers-that-be is alcohol

I have a notion these robbers are not 'users' of pot. Only wanted the money and pot to sell. Smoke a joint and the the last thing you would be inclined to do is go rob a store at gunpoint. It mellows, as opposed to enticing violence.

The first thing to remember is, There is NOT ONE single soul involved in politics who wants to be involved in something they cannot COMPLETELY control. These politicians could careless if marijuana helps the patients of this or any other county. The medication aspect of this is not important to these political advocates, they are far more worried about the income it generates, and as of now they are not COMPLETELY in control. This is a potential market to generate millions and millions of dollars. THEY have not figured out a way to recoup enough of the revenue, hence the federal govt only stepping in when it is fiscally deprived or when the closings and confiscations are leaning drastically in their favor. The county on the other hand wants THE SAME piece of that pie and control over its own rights as state. So what we have here is a group of GREEDY, Power hungry govt officials who have NO way to control the production of a plant/medication that is not governed by the fda or big pharm companies(YET ?). In any case this power struggle unfortunately leaves the patient to be victimized for seeking medication that TRULY WORKS rather than falling for the addiction and MULTIPLE side effects that EVERY SINGLE big pharm companies products have to offer. This is an uphill struggle on behalf of those who participate and function as upstanding patients rightfully seeking meds that WORK. Instead of buying into the propaganda that is so often force fed to our communities BY PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO UNDERSTANDING of the benefits and wander through life trying to control the masses but at the same time stand behind major pharm companies whom they KNOW are exposing the public to the MANY possibilities of addiction and horrible side effects. All for a bigger piece of the pie. politics as usual.

It is horrible that it takes a pot store to bring these crumbs out of the woodwork armed robbery with a gun no one was really hurt too bad .Someone is going to jail for what is that 20 years for a robbery with a gun and I have a feeling with the right amount of taxes these pot stores should be paying the resources for catching these other two punks should be available

Announce that the board is going to shut down all pain medication pharmacies, alcohol sales and tobacco sales in Kern County, and watch what happens to those stores. Amazing that there was no documented incidents like this before they threatened the entire infrastructure that has existed for years (since none of details on the several "crimes" cited by Boss Youngblood and the council have ever been substantiated, even when asked for by the citizenry). I am so tired of the Brownshirt tactics used by Kern's wealthy and influential to suffer the poor and undignified here. This choice is one that FORCES a decision upon those most impacted by those who are the least impacted. There is no comparison between our "side" (that lets non-users CHOOSE to not partake) and their "side" (that removes that CHOICE from others). When are we going to correct our leaders, our leaders from all over this Nation, from our local supervisors to our Federal Congress, and remind them that they are here to govern our commerce and manage our community needs, not to establish some tribunal with which they impose THEIR values, morals and lifestyles upon the citizenry through coercion and threats of imprisonment?
