Humidifiers (Hugh-mid-ih-fy-ers) add moisture to heated air. If you currently heat your home with a forced warm air system, you can incorporate a humidifier into the central heating system. If you have a steam, hot water, or electric heating system, portable one-room humidifiers are available. Both systems pull air through a wet pad, evaporating moisture from the pad to increase the amount of water vapor in the room and lessen the drying effect that usually results from excessive heat. Most portable humidifiers are turned on and off manually, but a few have automatic controls. For more specific information on humidifiers, contact your local appliance dealer.
