The 'Rotation Diet®,' known more recently as the 'T-factor 2000®' diet, is designed to be a long-term system for losing weight and keeping it off. Its main focus is on low-fat, high- carbohydrate eating, with few processed foods. A variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats or vegetarian proteins are recommended. The importance of daily exercise is also stressed. Three weeks of sample menus are included, providing about 1,000 (one thousand) to 1,100 (eleven hundred) calories per day. You're instructed to follow the diet for one, two, or three weeks at a time, depending on how much weight you want to lose and how motivated you feel. After a maximum of three consecutive weeks, you rotate off the diet. The strategy here is to avoid long stretches of low-calorie eating, which often cause your metabolism to slow down. During the maintenance period, you continue to eat healthy foods, but consume slightly more calories by either adding foods or increasing portions. You can stay on maintenance as long as you like. If you gain weight, or are ready to lose more, you then rotate back onto the diet.
