Emergency supplies

Here is a list of items that should be in your car, in case of emergency. In the trunk, besides the spare tire and jack, a few important items to keep are a set of common hand tools, work gloves, a can of motor oil, a first aid kit, jumper cables, clean rags, a fire extinguisher, flares and warning reflectors. Keep a pocket knife, tire pressure gauge, flashlight and a notepad and pencil or pen in the glove compartment. Also, keep a name, address and phone number of a person to be contacted in case of emergency. The winter presents special problems and calls for additional equipment. This includes a wool blanket, small shovel, snow brush and ice scraper, a bag of sand, traction mats or tire chains. An inexpensive CB (C-B)radio or cell phone are also good ideas for contacting help if needed.
