The space shuttle Endeavour is preparing for its trip to Kern County.
NASA's youngest shuttle left the Kennedy Space Center at sunrise Wednesday morning bolted onto the top of a specialized Boeing 747.
Thursday morning, Endeavour will take off, headed to Edwards Air Force Base in Kern County.
The public won't be allowed on base. But, you can see a low-level flyover from Twenty Mule Team Road or Highway 58 just north of the base at about noon Thursday.
In mid-October, the shuttle will be transported down city streets to its permanent home at the California Science Center.
17's Jim Scott will have a complete report on Endeavour's landing in Kern County Thursday on 17 News at 5 and 6.
