Another person has been hit and killed on the streets of Bakersfield.
The latest fatality happened Wednesday afternoon on Manor Street just north of Roberts Lane in Oildale.
The CHP says a fellow officer witnessed the crash. Investigators say it appears the man tried to beat traffic by running across the roadway. He was hit by a truck.
The man died at the scene.
A witness says the truck was traveling at the speed limit, which is 50 miles per hour on that stretch of Manor Street.
This death makes six pedestrian fatalities since the beginning of January.
