Firefighters are working hard this morning on a new wildfire burning to our south near Lancaster.

The out of control Crown Fire has burned more than 6,000 acres and forced hundreds of evacuations in Northern Los Angeles County.

The fire is located off Highway 14 between Interstate 5 and the Antelope Valley.

The fire broke out yesterday afternoon.  Several structures have burned but firefighters say they're waiting for daylight to determine whether they were homes or outbuildings.

Several evacuation centers have been setup.

Flames also knocked out a Sheriff's Department communication tower.
