A savvy, southern California high school senior took to YouTube to ask Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kate Upton to prom. Everyone wants her, but will high school senior Jake Davidson get her?
"It hit me. Why don't I ask Kate Upton to prom? It was a pipe dream," said Davidson. "Everyone was like, 'You're crazy. You're going to embarrass yourself.'"
Instead of embarrassing himself, Davidson ended up on the Today Show talking to the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model on the phone.
"This just got so much better now that you're on the phone," exclaimed Davidson.
"I absolutely loved the video. it was so hilarious," replied Upton.
In his video, he wooed her. "I'm inviting you to my senior prom on May 23," said Davidson. "Kate, we can ride around all night long. Till 11. That's my curfew." He also recounted their commonalities. "You're on the cover of Sports Illustrated, I read Sports Illustrated. You like fine dining. I like fine dining."
Upton has been a good sport about the invitation. She even tweeted, "How could I turn down that video? I'll check my schedule."
Other mere mortals have asked out celebrities. Mila Kunis was invited to the marine corps ball via YouTube video and ended up going together. Justin Timberlake got an invite from a Marine corporal and Justin said yes.
"I feel like the pressure's on and it's you guys, the news, that are putting it," said Upton.
While she's says she still has to adjust her schedule, he's adjusting his savings to splurge on renting a vintage Rolls Royce for prom night. In the meantime, Jake's got visions of the Rolls Royce of swimsuit models swimming in his head.
