We are getting together on September 11th in commemoration of the attacks on the Twin Towers in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, DC that took place on September 11, 2001. These attacks changed a lot of people's lives and the whole country was affected by it. This walk-a-thon is to show our support for the many fallen loved ones that were part of the attack or have served our country, and their families.

Motorcycle Groups Give Back to Our Local Veterans
Bakersfield, California - July 19, 2011 - Several local motorcycle groups, led by Lords of Loyalty, have combined efforts to show their support for our troops, both active and inactive, on the tenth anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
The Support the Troops Motorcycle Ride will be held on Sunday, September 11. Registration is $10 and line-up begins at 9 am, at Bikersfield, 2622 Fairhaven Drive off Rosedale Hwy. The ride begins at 11 am. This is a parade style event to show that Bakersfield and Kern County supports our men and women serving overseas, and to show support for those who have fought and have returned home. The ride will proceed to the Bakersfield National Cemetery in Arvin where there will be a short ceremony honoring local heroes.
After the ceremony, the participants will continue to Chuy's on Rosedale Highway where there will be a motorcycle and classic car show. $10 entrance fee for the shows. There will also be food, raffles, a live band, and a lot of fun! Sponsorship opportunities are available. 100% of the proceeds will go to local agencies that help returning and wounded veterans find housing, employment, and other necessities required for an independent civilian life. These agencies are the Independent Living Center of Kern County, California Veterans Assistance Foundation, and Wounded Heroes.

In commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon, the Bakersfield Sister City organization is joining other Sister City organizations throughout the United States and around the world to sponsor a special remembrance concert: "A Concert of Peace and Hope." The concert featuring patriotic and inspirational music will take place at the Olive Drive Church (5500 Olive Drive) at 4:00 p.m. on September 11th. Performances will be by the Bakersfield Winds, the Bakersfield Symphony, and other local professional musicians. This event is open to the public, and is free of charge. Donations may be made to the Wounded Heroes Fund at the door.
