A big donation from three local hospitals to honor the late Wendy Wayne.
San Joaquin Community Hospital, Dignity-Health Mercy and Memorial Hospitals made a joint, $20,000 donation to the nursing school scholarship fund at Cal State Bakersfield, established in Wayne's honor.
Her husband, Gene Tackett told us Tuesday the scholarship is up to $45,000 after Wendy's passing, June 17.
Tackett says they hope to reach $50,000 by December and award the first scholarship by the spring.
Wendy Wayne graduated from CSUB in 1978 with a degree in nursing.
