Encouraging news for growers in Kern and Kings Counties after strong spring storms did substantial crop damage.

The Department of Agriculture announced both counties are now designated agriculture disaster areas.

Freezing temperatures, hail high winds and rain damaged numerous crops.

Producers who experienced at least a ten percent loss on their farm may be eligible for federal funds if they meet additional requirements.
